Musicals Tonight has revived 90 classic musicals since 1998. In 2004 we were honored with an OBIE Award.

We define classic as a musical that has:
1) Artistic Value
2) Historical Value
3) Audience Appeal.

Yet these musicals are not being presented by other theater organizations. These musicals represent a uniquely America art form – the Broadway Musical. In their day, some of these shows ran for years – entertaining tens of thousands – with casts approaching 100 actors. They were created by such musical theater icons as Cole Porter (we have proudly revived 12 of his works); Rodgers & Hart (5 of their works); Irving Berlin (4 of his); George & Ira Gershwin (7 of theirs including the American premieres of Primrose and For Goodness Sake); Jerome Kern (7 of his including the American premiere of Cabaret Girl).

Musicals Tonight has revived Chee-Chee, That’s the Ticket, For Goodness Sake, Paris and 86 other musicals worthy of one last run in front of a New York Audience. The creators of these shows are much better known for
Pal Joey, Fanny, Porgy & Bess, and Anything Goes. But many companies larger than ours present these works often. None have undertaken our mission. Please join us for our 19th season to see Funny Face by George & Ira Gershwin; the World Premiere of Noel Coward’s Hoi Polloi ; Louisiana Purchase with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin; Mr. Wonderful written specifically to showcase the talents of Sammy Davis, Jr.; and Du Barry Was a Lady with music and lyrics by Cole Porter
